• 2024 Ford will remake the F-150, giving it a boxier look and adding many new features.
  • By 2024, hybrid cars will be more common and cost about the same as 3.5-liter EcoBoost gas cars.
  • Ford will add a head-up display to the F-150 for the first time. The tailgate will also be changed to make it easier to get in and out when pulling.

The 2024 Ford F-150 is not a new generation of the best-selling car in the United States, but it will be very different when it goes on sale in early 2024. Ford has changed its range of engines, added more technology to the interior, and added several new features to the F-150 to make it a more practical vehicle. For 2024, the powerful Raptor and Raptor R models also get updates, which are discussed separately.

The changes to the style are small but essential. The boxy front of the car and the new LED running lights that circle the headlights on higher-priced models give the vehicle a square-jawed look. The “coast to coast” grille on the cheapest cars covers the headlights with a big rectangular piece. The model for Tremor looks the same, but she has orange lipstick on. Changes have also been made to the bumpers and taillights; more models now come with a black trim choice.

The F-150 also has a simplified form of the traditional Blue Oval logo, which has more prominent and bold white letters.

Taken out by a Hybrid

The F-150’s base engine is no longer offered, a 3.3-liter V-6 with 265 pound-feet of torque and 290 horsepower. The EcoBoost 2.7-liter V-6 has replaced the previous base engine with two turbochargers. This gives the base F-150 a robust 325 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. Ford still sells the truck with a 5.0-liter V-8 engine that makes 400 horsepower for people who want the original machine.

Ford is putting off the PowerBoost until 2024 to focus on the hybrid car. The production of the 430-hp twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 hybrid, which makes up 10% of F-150 sales right now, will double. Ford also said that the PowerBoost will now start at the same price as the 400-hp EcoBoost 3.5-liter engine, but costs have yet to be released.

With 570 pound-feet of torque, the hybrid has the most horsepower and torque of any model except for the Raptor cars. F-150s with PowerBoost also come with Pro Power Onboard, a 2.4-kW generator in the bed that can power anything from the kitchen to power tools. Ford now says that buyers will only have to pay a little for more power and Pro Power Onboard, but we wonder how many people will choose the 3.5-liter’s ability to run on gas only instead of these options.

Ford also said that Pro Power Onboard will have a new interface in 2024 to show a better picture of the vehicle’s power supply on the center screen or the Ford phone app. As before, buyers can update to a 7.2-kW unit if they need more power for their business, and a 2.0-kW inverter can be added to gas-only trucks.

The sign has been changed

Even though the passenger layout hasn’t changed much, all F-150s now have a 12-inch touchscreen and a 12-inch digital gauge cluster as standard equipment. The F-150 will have a head-up display for the first time. It will have separate screens for BlueCruise, towing, and off-road drive modes. On the Lariat and higher models, you can buy the head-up display.

Ford put a new Pro Access tailgate in the back to compete with tailgate gadgets from Chevrolet and Ram that can be used for more than one thing. This new optional plan has a gate in the middle that can open at three different angles: 37 degrees, which is less than most trailer jacks, 70 degrees, and 100 degrees. The bed is now easier to reach without bending over the open trunk.

When paired with a broader bumper step, the gate, which opens on the driver’s side for added ease, makes it quick and easy to get to the tailgate even when towing. Most regular tailgates will also be available, and the Pro Access tailgate will come standard on the King Ranch and Platinum and as an option on the Lariat and Tremor.

Once you’re in the bed, look under the right rear tire well to find a new one-gallon bucket. This is an excellent place to hide gloves, straps for holding things down, or emergency tools. Without Pro Power Onboard, both sides of the truck bed will have storage boxes put in.

Help with Driving

The F-150 has ten driver assistance technologies, such as lane-keeping, blind-spot warning, and pre-collision help with emergency stops. Ford will add an optional “exit warning” feature in 2024 that will tell you of approaching cars, people on foot, and bikes as you get ready to get out of the truck.

Ford is also adding a brand-new safety feature that will be turned on when the car is parked. Stolen Car Services will inform the owner through the phone app if someone tries to get in their vehicle without permission. If the owner thinks the threat is real, SVS will work with local cops to find the car and bring it back. They will also stop the thief from turning off location services remotely.

Ford says that 75% of F-150 customers must tow, so they still offer Pro Trailer Backup Assist, Pro Trailer Hitch Assist, and onboard scales that measure payload to ensure the car isn’t too heavy. Depending on the specifications, the maximum pulling capacity is 13,500 pounds, and the full load is 2,455. These numbers have decreased significantly since Ford put the same 36-gallon gas tank in all its cars.

Ford has made a new modular front bumper that can be added to the Tremor and Raptor models. It can hold a light bar from the factory or a Ford Performance Winch Kit with a WARN 12,000-pound winch. The bumper has extra cameras and sensors because putting on a light bar or winch could mess up the regular front-facing sensors. You can get the bumper in either Carbon Black or Tarnished Dark Anodized.

Ford’s hands-free highway driving technology, BlueCruise, was also made better. Version 1.2 adds lane change assistance, which makes the car change lanes when the driver turns on the turn light, and there are no obstacles. There is now a new choice called “in-lane repositioning,” which lets the car move within the lanes to make more room, like when driving next to a semi-truck. Ford has updated the F-150 with an AT&T 5G LTE modem that makes driving faster and lets it connect to up to ten Wi-Fi hotspots.

Even though Ford hasn’t said when the 2024 F-150 will come out, we expect it to be in stores in the first few months of 2019. The starting price for the XL is now $35,830, while the starting price for the Limited, which will be replaced by a trim called Platinum Plus, is $84,115. It is anticipated that there will be some sort of price hike.
