• GM has made a charge adaptor that works with Tesla’s unique North American charge Standard (NACS) connector.
  • All of GM’s electric cars can now connect to almost 18,000 Tesla Superchargers thanks to the NACS adapter.
  • On the GM brand’s mobile app, you can buy the adapter for $225.

Many car companies are getting ready to release new electric vehicles (EVs) with Tesla’s unique charge connector, which is called the North American charge Standard (NACS for short). The change from a different CCS-type port to NACS, on the other hand, is still being worked on. In the United States, the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is the first car that isn’t a Tesla that comes with NACS built in. An adapter from CCS to NACS is only a short-term fix, and General Motors has finally released its adapter.

GM Releases A NACS Adapter That Allows Tesla Superchargers To Be Used With Its EVs

The new NACS adapter works with all of GM’s electric cars, even the Chevy Bolt EV, which is no longer being made. A representative from GM told Invoice Pricing that some Bolts might need software changes to work properly with Tesla’s Supercharger network. People who own the Bolt or other GM electric cars like the Chevy Blazer EV, Cadillac Lyriq, or GMC Sierra EV can now charge their batteries at one of about 18,000 Tesla Superchargers nearby. GM says that its users can use more than 231,800 public charging stations in the US. Level 2 fast chargers and DC fast chargers are among these.

GM says it is working with a number of companies to make the $225 NACS adapter. Early this year, Ford released its own NACS adapter. Customers on Ford’s BlueOval Charge Network could get it for free. After a while, the connector got pricey—it now costs $230.

General Motors hasn’t said anything about a free adaptor, but it has said that the device can be bought through its mobile app for all of its brands. With the same apps, people can find Tesla Superchargers, start charging, and pay for their sessions. GM is now selling adapters in the US and hopes to do the same in Canada later this year.
