• This exquisite Mazda used to be a sports coupe.
  • Debuting in 1993 were the Ford Probe and MX-6’s second generation.
  • The Mazda MX-6 has aged well over the past three decades.

After ten sports coupes were tested by Car and Driver at the beginning of 1992, the magazine contrasted five in the winter issue. A fight would break out between the Toyota GR86 and the Subaru BRZ if this were to be done presently. Fans of couples from the 1990s, however, have options.

Car and Driver’s sister newspaper, Bring a Trailer, sells a 1993 Hunter Green Mica Mazda MX-6 LS. It’s shallow at 13,000 kilometres. The endangered species has been in the area for 30 years, yet it only seems like five.

The Ford Probe and the Mazda MX-6, which are front-wheel-drive coupes, were assembled at the same Flat Rock, Michigan plant. The 2.5-liter V-6 and the 2.0-liter four-cylinder were both very refined. This LS model has an automatic transmission and a powerful six-cylinder engine that generates 164 horsepower. The absence of a rear spoiler accentuates the MX-6’s low and streamlined profile. A new RX-7 twin-turbo might have been parked nearby when it was first introduced.

The Probe was the more athletic sibling because of its larger wheels, more gripping tires, stiffer springs, and thicker front anti-roll bar. Thus, it proved superior to the MX-6, which was too flexible for the test. After 30 years, this MX-6 is still the most fantastic weekend cruiser at a Radwood-themed car show. Rarely does one come across an MX-6 in such pristine condition.

You haven’t seen anything yet from the MX-6’s full potential. Mazda reduced its suspension without altering the vehicle’s handling or stability to broaden its market. The MX-6 may be modified to increase its speed, as the same team of engineers developed the NA Miata and RX-7.

Please don’t mess with this vehicle; it’s a time capsule. The dark green beauty was a Sunday morning staple for sports coupe fans. Affordable sports coupes have all the benefits of a great car without breaking the bank—the end. Experience or education on them can be had now.
