This coming weekend, Ford will bring to Pikes Peak a stronger and more enclosed electric F-150 Lightning. The SuperTruck is a newer version of the SuperVan 4.2 that came out last year. Even though I know it’s state-of-the-art tech, I can’t help but wonder why it looks the way it does.

This monster, especially the face, makes me feel pretty scared. Maybe it’s just me. The car is an F-150 Lightning that has been genetically modified against its will. It is crying something other than tears because it doesn’t have a mouth, and its headlights are blacked out, making them look like eyes—a scary movie. The car looks like something a Mad Max bad guy would drive if you take off the sponsor labels and bright colors. It seems pretty creepy.

How does that Ford F-150 Lightning SuperTruck look at Pikes Peak?

The F-150 Lightning SuperTruck has an ugly look, but it has electric motors that are “optimized for peak performance” and can produce 6,000 pounds of downforce at 150 mph. Have you ever seen a truck with a bigger wing? This machine has three STANDARD UHP six-phase motors that make more than 1,400 horsepower. The SuperTruck stays on track with carbon ceramic brakes, Pirelli P Zero tires on magnesium-forged wheels, and a one-of-a-kind in-board suspension system.

The record time for the SuperVan 4.2 was 8:47.682, and Romain Dumas will try to beat that time with the Ford F-150 Lightning SuperTruck as he drives up Pikes Peak.
