Hyundai N wheels will be carbon fibre. Hyundai wants Dymag Wheels, a lightweight wheel manufacturer, to develop carbon-hybrid wheel technology for its N division. This year, a prototype with a cast metal centre and carbon fibre composite rim was at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. For years, most individuals couldn’t afford carbon-fibre wheels. They have long been used on pricey race vehicles and hypercars like Koenigsegg, but now they appear on cheaper cars like the Corvette Z06 and the Mustang Dark Horse. Dymag Wheels announced a partnership to deploy carbon-hybrid wheels on Hyundai N division automobiles. Hyundai hasn’t revealed how or which cars will use these carbon-hybrid wheels. This year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed featured a Hyundai Ioniq 5 N prototype wheel. It had a forged metal hub and carbon fibre composite outer rim. 40%–50% weight loss Dymag believes new alloy wheels are 40–50% lighter, stiffer, and stronger than conventional ones. More lightweight wheels improve turning, feedback, and unsprung mass. When will Hyundai Ns have these wheels? The Ioniq 5 N is one of the first cars with carbon-fibre wheels because the prototype wheel was on display. The Ioniq 6 N, likely in development, is another excellent alternative. Wait and see. Again, inexpensive N-division automobiles like the Elantra N and KonaN may need to be farther down the market for the expensive pick.
