• Performance is better when not plugged in. The FIT division said it would start making changes to Tesla Cybertrucks so that cops can use them.
  • Police-modified cybertrucks offer particular features. Police fleets get lights, sirens, radio, computer, and optional front push bar.
  • The arrival of Cybertruck police cars is exciting. UP.FIT reported that law enforcement organizations will receive the first customized vehicles later this year.

If you see a Tesla Cybertruck in your rearview mirror, you might pull over, either because the tall, robotic face scares you or because you like the way its body is shaped. But UP.FIT, a division of Tesla modders Unplugged Performance, has said it will start making changes to Cybertrucks so cops can use them. The first arrivals should be late this year, so you might need to stop soon for one.

The Cybertruck, a robust addition to Tesla’s lineup, is not the first vehicle to be modified by UP. FIT for law enforcement use. It comes ready with a PA system, an enhanced radio and computer system, and a variety of lights and sirens, including spotlights on the front bumper. With its 18-inch forged wheels and the option for a front push bar, the Cybertruck is well-prepared for security operations.

UP.FIT says that the Cybertruck can be modified to fit military, tactical, or search-and-rescue tasks. The business may also offer K9 cages, places to store weapons, and walls for prisoners. In addition, UP.FIT might improve the truck’s tires and brakes so they can handle “extreme off-road usage.” Starlink, Elon Musk’s business that works with SpaceX, also offers internet service.

UP.FIT calls the Cybertruck’s body a “stainless steel exoskeleton,” and Tesla says the truck’s body can withstand being shot from a small gun, making it their “most ballistics capable” vehicle. The company stresses the Cybertruck’s driving and driver-assistance features when it talks about why it thinks it is the best vehicle for the job. UP.FIT says that its other Tesla police cars usually have a range of 270 to 300 miles and cost around $90,000. However, the company did not give an exact price or range.

UP.FIT says that orders are now open, and there is “substantial interest” in the police Cybertruck, so keep an eye on it. The big Cybertruck should be easy to find sitting in the middle of the highway.
