• Acura has announced how much the 2017 Integra Type S will cost.
  • The Honda Civic Type R starts at $44,890, while this one starts at $51,995.
  • On May 11, buyers can reserve one of the first 200 units.

The new Acura Integra Type S will cost much more than its sibling, the Honda Civic Type R, when it comes out in 2024. This was expected but a little depressing. The Acura hot hatch starts at a base price of $51,995, $7,105 more than the Honda Civic starts at. These automobiles have a limited-slip differential, a six-speed manual transmission, and a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine. The only distinction that can be made between them is aesthetic.

The main reason for the price difference is that Integra has many more standard options. The Civic Type R doesn’t have heated front seats, a head-up display, a 16-speaker ELS audio system, or a driver’s seat that moves independently. Also, the Integra Type S has a little more power than the Civic. Its turbocharged four-cylinder engine makes 320 ph., while the Civic only makes 315 hp.

We think the Integra Type S will only have high-end colors. The Integra Type S should cost the same as the original Integra and the TLX and MDX Type S models. Most exterior color choices should cost an extra $600. On the other hand, the customization tool should be ready to use soon. In addition to the standard white, blue, and red, Acura claims the Type S will also be offered in the same gold Tiger Eye Pearl shade as the TLX and MDX.

Acura is now taking orders for the first 200 Integra Type S cars that will be brought into the US. Acura.com/Integra will start taking reservations for these cars on May 11 at 1:00 p.m. Eastern time. The vehicles will be in showrooms by the end of June.
