Dodge seemed to care about himself. Automotive News says that the Durango Hellcat will return for the model year 2024. Even though the 710-horsepower Durango has already come out twice, this is still true.

Each of the 3,000 Dodge Durango Hellcats made in 2021 was a unique muscle car whose owners thought it would immediately become a valuable collector. Then, in 2022, Dodge brought back the Durango Hellcat for the 2023 model year, even though they had said they wouldn’t make it again. Customers thought that was the end of Dodge’s most powerful SUV at the time, but that’s not the case. The Drive has asked Dodge for a reaction; this story will be updated as soon as we hear back.

When Dodge told the owners of the first 3,000 Durango Hellcats that the second batch of the high-performance SUVs would only be available for one year, they were upset. One customer even tried to sue Dodge because their truck wasn’t worth as much as it should be. You can take whichever side you want in that argument, but the owner, who asked that we only call them “Stacy,” said last year:

“I had to do something, if only because it was right.” If you asked me what I want to happen, I would say they should do what they said they would and stop building.

To make matters worse, the Challenger and Charger Hellcats will no longer be made after 2023. When two famous cars like that have to go to make room for a powerful SUV, we live in a sad world. Dodge also showed its ambiguity by returning the manual gear for the last year of the Challenge Hellcat after saying it was dead.

Tim Kuniskis, CEO of Dodge, recently told Automotive News that people do not buy the Durango Hellcat for its value. They buy things because they want to. According to what he said to the newspaper, “We’re not competing on price, value, gas mileage, or anything else like that.”The only way to stand out in the market is equivalent to declaring, “Either I want a Durango, or I don’t.”

The exact starting price for the 2023 Dodge Durango Hellcat is still unknown, but it will be $95,200. Dodge did not say how many 2024 Durango Hellcats they plan to make, but is that important now? Since the company doesn’t know when to stop, Dodge may give another Hellcat model year before releasing a new generation of the Durango.
