• The Lotus Emeya is a brand-new electric car with four doors.
  • It has the same frame and engine as the Eletre SUV, and the top version is said to have up to 905 horsepower.
  • The following year, the Emeya will come to the United States as a 2025 model.

Lotus is a British company best known for making light sports cars. With the release of the over 5,000-pound Eletre electric SUV, Lotus has already moved out of its comfort zone. So, even though the new Lotus Emeya EV from 2025 is very different from an Elise or an Emira, this is not as surprising. The new four-door Emeya hatchback is related to the Eletre. It has the same engine and looks like the Eletre, but its lower, more aerodynamic shape promises better performance.

Even though it’s unclear what Lotus means when it calls the Emeya a “Hyper-GT,” it’s intended to compete with cars like the Tesla Model S, Porsche Taycan, and Lucid Air. Because of this, it has a big battery pack (102.0 kWh) and electric solid motors in the front and back. The top-of-the-line Emeya has 905 horsepower and 727 pound-feet of torque. The base model will likely have the same 603 horsepower and 523 pound-feet of torque as the lower-end Eletre models. The transmission will have two speeds, just like the Taycan.

Even though the Emeya is probably more significant than the Eletre, Lotus says that the version with 905 hp will reach 62 mph in less than 2.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 159 mph. It has a standard air suspension and many active aerodynamic features like a rear diffuser, front grille shutters, and a rear spoiler that opens up at high speeds to improve downforce.

Even though Lotus hasn’t released official estimates for the Emeya’s range yet, the company says it will be the same as the Eletre, between 260 and 315 miles based on how it’s set up. The Emeya can also quickly charge at 350 kW DC.

The interior looks very current because it mixes Alcantara, Nappa leather, and aluminum. A giant infotainment touchscreen and a 55.0-inch augmented reality head-up display will be added to the dashboard. The back bucket seats are shown as being set up for four people, but there will also be a rear bench that can fit up to five people. When the back hatch is opened, there is a relatively large space for goods.

Lotus says they will start making the Emeya in 2024, and a model will be available in the US in 2025. The price won’t be known until later, but it will start around $100,000 and go well over $150,000 for the top model with 905 horsepower.
