The 2025 Volvo EX30 is the brand’s newest car. With a starting price of $36,145, it’s small, cute, and, most importantly, cheap. Volvo, much smaller than the vast electric SUV EX90, is achieving its goal of being 100% electric by 2030. Volvo made a big deal about how small the EX30 is, but it still has many features and is very useful. Enough to say that a new wave of electric cars is about to start.

The EX30 is very small in terms of size. It’s about the same size as a Hyundai Kona but much smaller and has many more features and space. Volvo says that the idea behind the EX30 was to make a smaller car that is better for the environment. About 30% less material is used than in the EX90.

The EX30 is all about this idea of keeping things simple and to the point. Inside, the entertainment system and gauge cluster are on a single screen in the middle of the cabin. The dashboard is set back from the window. Volvo removed the door speakers and put a soundbar in the dashboard’s center instead. This replaced the six speakers that came with the car. About 20% of the materials used to make the EX30 are recycled. The rest are either trash from manufacturing or parts that were used for something else.

The electric powertrain comes with only one type of battery and two different motor combinations in the United States. The Twin Motor Performance model, which has 422 horsepower; the Twin Motor Extended Range trim, which has two motors; and the Single Motor Extended Range trim, which has 268 horsepower, all use the same NMC-type battery pack, which has cobalt, manganese, lithium, and nickel. Volvo says that the single-motor cars have a range of 275 miles, but this needs to be tested by the EPA. Also, its highest charging speed is 153 kW, which takes 26 and a half minutes.

Volvo is also showing the EX30 Cross Country, which is an EX30 that has been raised and made more robust and comes with all-terrain tires as standard. Most likely, you won’t be able to get that until 2024.

Volvo is working hard to make electric cars that are useful and affordable for more people. At its starting price, the EX30 can reach a large part of the market for cheap cars. This EV has a reasonable starting price, a good range, and ample cabin.
