• Chevy’s latest police car is the 2024 Blazer EV Police Pursuit Vehicle: 498 hp and 531 lb-ft.
  • GM fleet buyers will buy the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV-based PPV in early 2024—all-wheel drive.
  • Law enforcement uses the Blazer EV PPV, Silverado 1500, Tahoe, 2023 Traverse, and Malibu.

Except for its red and blue lights, the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV Police Pursuit Vehicle (PPV) is unlike the Tahoe that got you your last speeding ticket—law-abiding Americans battle crime with PPV. The Blazer EV-based vehicle has 498 horsepower and all-wheel drive. GM’s 12-minute Blazer EV PPV video is pure electric cop vehicle bliss.

The Blazer EV PPV’s “105.0-kWh battery” is likely the same as the Cadillac Lyriq 450E’s 102.0-kWh battery. GM claims it can drive 250 miles. GM claims the 400-volt architecture can add 71 miles in 10 minutes. DC-fast charging their police car at 190 kW is possible. Because establishing a DC fast charger at a department may be cruel and unusual, state police, sheriffs, and cities may start monitoring the public charging network or employ 80-amp Level 2 chargers for a slower 19.2-kW refill. The Blazer EV PPV has regenerative braking.

Police cars require a lot of electricity for their radios, computers, and emergency lights. GM estimates the Blazer EV PPV can travel 20–50 miles per charge if it takes a cop that long to make a report. GM believes extra parts can increase the top speed to 130 mph.
