Ferrari took the roof off the beautiful Roma coupe to make the Roma Spider, which will replace the Portofino M in 2024. Ferrari changed the rear spoiler, added a wind deflector, and strengthened the chassis, but the rest of the design stayed the same. The 3.9-liter turbocharged V-8 engine in the Roma Spider still makes 612 horsepower. A front-engine Ferrari will have a fabric top for the first time since the 365 GTS/4 in 1969. Ferrari made the Roma Spider by removing the elegant V-8-powered coupe’s roof and replacing it with a soft top that can be pulled back. Our friends at Road and Track say that the Ferrari Roma Spider has replaced the Portofino M. Luckily, Ferrari only changed a little about the exterior. The Roma Spider has the same long hood and round shapes as the coupe. A unique multi-layer fabric weave raises the soft top in 13.5 seconds at 37 mph. The active rear spoiler has three settings and has been redesigned and tuned for driving without a roof. Even though the Roma Spider has a more decisive back end, it only weighs 185 pounds more than the coupe. The cabin’s 8.4-inch vertical screen and metal gear selector plate are surrounded by soft leather and fake suede, just like in the first Roma. Ferrari says that the start button now lights up red and that the controls on the steering wheel have been changed to make them easier to use. With the top down, Ferrari made sure to reduce wind noise and turbulence by adding a 5-mm aerodynamic element to the top of the windscreen and a wind deflector that raises by rotating the backrest of the rear seats when a button is pressed. This can’t be opened while people are sitting in the back, but given how small the back of the Roma is, this will not be a big problem. The Roma Spider’s 3.9-liter turbocharged V-8 engine produces 612 horsepower and 561 pound-feet. An automatic transmission with eight gears and a dual-clutch setup sends the engine’s output to the vehicle’s rear wheels. The Roma Spider has the latest version of Ferrari’s Slide Slip Control system, which controls traction and stability and lets you drift predictably. The gearbox also has some minor changes that make it use less gas. The standard features of the Roma Spider include the following: Wireless Apple Carp lay and Android Auto. 18-way power-adjustable heated seats. The option is to add a neck warmer to keep the top down in colder weather. Even though it is extreme, the Roma Spider is a cruiser, not a track weapon. No price was given for the Roma Spider, but since the coupe’s base price is $247,310, it should start at around $280,000. The Roma Spider doesn’t have a release date yet, but we expect to be able to drive it with the top-down by the end of the year.
