Small, cheap cars and hatchbacks aren’t the prison cells they used to be. The 2023 Mazda 3 is an excellent example of how these inexpensive cars can offer more style and comfort. The Mazda 3 stands out from other cars because it has a beautiful interior and a sleek, eye-catching look. The Mazda 3’s case is made stronger by its dynamic handling, powerful turbocharged engine, and all-wheel drive.

Some changes have been made to the Mazda 3 lineup for 2023. The base 2.0 sedan model that used to be available is no longer available. While this trim was the only one with a 2.0-liter engine, most 3s now have a 2.5-liter machine. This year, it also got a minor upgrade, getting five more horsepower and using less gas. This engine is still available with a powerful turbocharger that can add 250 horsepower.

The Mazda 3 needs more space for bags or legroom in the back. So, if you care more about how valuable a car is than how fast it is, the Honda Civic, Kia Forte, or Hyundai Elantra are better choices.

How do you drive a Mazda 3 Hatchback? Like most other Mazda cars, the three hatchbacks are fun to drive. Because the vehicle’s horsepower and acceleration are above average, merging and getting on an on-ramp happen quickly. The brake pedal’s consistent response helps drivers feel in control during everyday driving and confident during emergency stops. The functions of steering and handling are the same. Even though neither is very exciting, both are fun to do daily.

Even the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, which took 8.2 seconds to reach 60 mph on our test track, was impressive. But the optional 2.5-liter turbocharged engine changes everything. With it, the time from 0 to 60 mph drops to 6.1 seconds. It also has a well-made turbo with little lag and torque that can be used quickly. To pass or merge, you only need to tap the gas pedal lightly; there’s no need to floor it.

How lovely is the Mazda 3 Hatchback to ride in? The inside of the 3 is usually beautiful. The front seats are supportive and comfortable enough to drive all day. When accelerating slowly or quickly, engine noise is the most noticeable, but no annoying drone exists. The baritone thrum of the turbocharged engine is quite appealing. All of the cars in the lineup have less road noise.

Even though the three are more for the driver, most bumps and vibrations get into the cabin. However, the suspension controls these movements so that passengers don’t groan. Just put the air conditioner on “auto” and forget about it.

How does the inside look? The number three is a sign of clear thinking and good instincts. The controls are straightforward so that you can focus on the road. We’re very interested in the role of driver. Since everything is clear, almost all drivers should be able to choose their favorite setup.

What brings the score down? The view and the back seat. The rear side pillars make the back window small and create large blind spots. Even though putting your mirrors in the right place can help, backing out of a parking spot takes more attention and work than it should. Even though we mostly like how the front seat feels, the back seat is tight. Even though the legroom and shoulder room are less than expected in the industry, the headroom is fine. You also have to duck when you enter or leave.

How good is the tech? Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto are both included as standard features. Using a rotary dial instead of a touchscreen to manage the user interface takes some time, but it works. If you live with poor cell phone coverage, onboard navigation can be a good alternative.

Standard active safety technologies include adaptive cruise control and collision mitigation. Some systems give out too loud warnings, and the adaptive cruise has trouble braking smoothly. You can change the settings on each platform, which is good news.

What about putting things away? The space for cargo is smaller than usual. Even though it has a lot of space, you can’t put the back seats in it. We like the storage options in the middle for the people in the front seats, especially the tiny pocket to the left of the steering wheel and the long, wide tray that can hold most of our items. There are few storage options for people in the back seats, and the door pockets are usually about average size.

The anchors make it easy to install a car seat, but the space in the back is small, so you’ll probably need to slide the front seat forward. The back ropes can’t be seen because of the cargo privacy cover, which is annoying.

How much does the Mazda 3 Hatchback cost to run on gas? [Editor’s note: The part below is on the 2022 Mazda 3. The way we figure out fuel economy has changed slightly since then, but our preliminary results are still the same. All-wheel drive has two benefits: the EPA says it gets 27 mpg combined, and the fuel tank is slightly smaller (by 0.5 gallons). The combined mileage for a car with front-wheel drive and an automatic transmission is expected to be 29 mpg. Compared to hatchbacks with similar equipment, these numbers are below average. Even so, on our 115-mile mixed-driving test route, we got 32 mpg, so you should be able to match the EPA figure in everyday driving.

How much does a Mazda 3 Hatchback cost? The Mazda 3 pays much attention to style, which shows its use of high-quality, carefully put-together parts. The only flaw seen is the high-gloss black trim on the center console, which gets dirty quickly. This is a problem with many expensive cars as well.

It is average in terms of fuel economy, warranty, and benefits of ownership. More than anything else, you pay for style, even though the optional turbo engine has a lot of horsepowers and, therefore, costs more. The three hatchbacks are more expensive than almost everything else in its class at the top trim level and with all-wheel drive, especially if you choose the turbo. This includes well-known cars like the Volkswagen GTI and even the Golf R, so you should compare cars to make sure that the Mazda is the best in your eyes.

The most recent of the three models offer a different driving experience focusing more on refinement than thrills, though driving can still be fun. The three are made to make your daily commute more comfortable, but they can still make you smile on a mountain ride. Because its engine is now turbocharged, the small three can directly compete with some entry-level luxury cars.

The hatchback stands out in a parking lot full of cars because of how it looks from the outside. The three stand out because of how they look. The way the interior is laid out and the materials used give it a look of luxury and style that other hatchbacks can’t match.

The best one is the 2.5 S with the Select Package. It has a good mix of features for a fair price, such as dual-zone temperature control, 18-inch wheels, and a system that warns you when you are in a blind spot.
