Recently, Porsche showed off the third version of its Panamera sedan. It is a big step up from the second generation in many ways. The third-generation Panamera’s order list needs one important thing, though a car version. Automotive News Europe says that the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo is no longer on the market for the third version. Fans of Porsche were thrilled when the Sport Turismo body style was added to the second-generation Panamera range for the 2017 model year. Car fans like you and me thought the Panamera Sport Turismo was the perfect Porsche family car, but it didn’t sell very many. When asked by Auto News Europe, Porsche allegedly said, “Sport Turismo has only a minor impact in China and the United States, our primary markets in the D sector.” Because of this, they have chosen to stop making this model type when the next generation comes out. We need to find out how well the Sport Turismo model sold compared to the car because Porsche puts all of their sales data together. On the other hand, Porsche is lying when it says that orders are low. American car fans often complain that there aren’t enough fast wagons on the market, but when automakers do make them, not many people seem to want to buy them. But there are a few that don’t follow this rule, like the Mercedes-AMG E63 Wagon and the Audi RS6 Avant. This is clear from the fact that there are few racing wagons for sale in North America. Some cars, like the Mercedes-AMG C63 wagon, BMW M3 Touring, Audi RS4 Avant, and Volkswagen Golf R Wagon, are brought into the US but have yet to be sold there. The Venn diagram doesn’t show much agreement between people who can afford them and car fans who want fast wagons. Fans of the Porsche wagon who don’t mind electric cars can still have hope. The electric Taycan Sport Turismo and the slightly rougher Taycan Cross Turismo are both still for sale. Still, the Panamera Sport Turismo was a one-of-a-kind car in a market full of generic ones so that we will get it. In the coming years, I’ll be looking for used models.
