Volkswagen Passenger Cars India showed off the GT DSG form of the Virtus sedan on Monday. It costs 16.99 lakh rupees (before tax) to buy. Even though there aren’t many cars in the Indian auto market, the Virtus has made a place for itself since it came out in June 2022. The Virtus GT with DSG has a powerful engine with 148 horsepower and 250 Nm of peak torque, making it one of the most competitive cars in its class. ARAI has verified Volkswagen’s claim that the sedan gets 19.62 km/l per gallon. There are two main kinds of Volkswagen Virtus: the Dynamic and the Performance Line. Volkswagen’s TSI technology is used to power both versions of this car. The Dynamic’s 1.0-liter TSI engine has a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. For example, each type of Virtus comes with a choice of two engines. The 1.0-liter TSI engine in the Dynamic model puts out 111 horsepower and 178 Nm of torque. The Performance Line model, on the other hand, has a 1.5-liter TSI EVO engine and a seven-speed DSG gearbox. Recent drops in demand for this type of car on the Indian market have made things challenging. Volkswagen officials have said this could be because they need more new vehicles to get people interested. But the Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus, the redesigned Hyundai Verna, and the most recent Honda City with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) have given the market a new lease on life. Also, Maruti Suzuki’s Ciaz model is still competing in the market.
