I enjoy the Fiat Abarth 500 e’s 1960s-sounding engine. I told you. I don’t care if electric cars with false engine noises are tacky and that enjoying them could get me kicked out of a car club. I am enjoying it. It’s foolish, stupid, and lame in most autos. However, the Fiat Abarth 500e makes sense. The Italians announced that an external sound generator could make the exhaust noise of a vintage Abarth engine for the performance version of the electric 500e, the Abarth 500e. You may “rev” it to hear a 1960s Italian four-cylinder engine despite being electric. It’s silly at first. Does it deceive them? However, Jim’s Twitter video matches the car’s silliness and doesn’t sound horrible. Take the Fiat Abarth 500e lightly since it’s a sports car. It’s shoe-size. Sports shoe-shaped electric hatchback. One drives one for fun, not to look cool. It’s also silly to pretend your electric Fiat’s non-engine is running while going to grab a coffee. Rules weren’t mine. Future adjustments are possible. Since the sound is just created by a speaker, different exhaust sounds could be added later, possibly by air changes. This fails in better sports cars. Hans Zimmer’s odd BMW sounds become boring after a few minutes. Maserati’s ingenious blend of an old-school V8 sound with an electric motor whine is fantastic in principle but fails in practice. Dodge’s loud faux power car sound makes you snort. These tactics rarely work. The Fiat Abarth 500e is already entertaining and relaxed, so it works.
