The BMW M Performance Parts Catalog has long been trusted by people who want to give their sports car or sedan a more motorsport-inspired look. When BMW revealed its beautiful center lock wheel kit for the G8X cars in November 2023, it didn’t let American customers buy it. You should have about $20,000 saved up, but things will be different by 2025.

It Costs More Than $20,000 For BMW M Cars To Get New Centerlock Wheels

As BMWBlog first reported, the wheels can be used with the G80, G82, G83, and G87 types. They have a stylish 10-spoke design centered around the important central nut. If you don’t know what BMW chassis numbers mean, these are the M3 car, the M4 coupe and convertible, and the M2 coupe. A BMW product representative said that there are now about seven full sets of these wheels available in North America. You can choose between all-wheel-drive and rear-wheel-drive types, but the company can make more if enough people want them.

Because there aren’t many of these wheels available, they cost more than a fourth of the base price of a new M3. BMW told Road & Track that the MP 963M 19—and 20-inch matte black interlocks will cost $6,696.07 each. Of course, you’ll need to get new five-lug hubs since the wheels won’t bolt to the original ones. BMW is happy to offer the updated wheels, but the package costs $11,037.90 for both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive cars.

There is also a list of suggested assembly tools and materials, such as a centerlock wheel socket ($323), a torque wrench with a range of at least 738 pound-feet ($1270), Wuerth Al 1100 aluminum paste ($51.99), Sythes Glep 1 grease ($49.27), and a release tool. BMW says it will cost about $19,995.23, plus three hours of work by the shop to put it together. But the increase isn’t really that big yet.

If you race your G8X M in a series, centerlock wheels can be a good thing to have in the pits. Because there is such a big aftermarket for these cars, though, spending a lot of money on a change would be too expensive for most people. Still, because there aren’t many cars on the market, BMW might not have a problem selling the ones it has now.
