While representing the FIA at Fiorano earlier this month, Scuderia Ferrari was seen trying some wheel covers that didn’t look right. The shields were meant to cut down on spray, which would make racing in the rain safer. The project seems to be on hold since the difference was thought to be “marginal.” As a result, we are starting over.

It is said that F1 is getting rid of its silly wet-weather wheel covers

It would be better for race fans and drivers if Formula One cars splashed less water from the back of their cars when it rained. This would also make it less likely that an event would be stopped, scaled back, or moved. Heavy rain cut short the 2021 Belgian Grand Prix after only three runs (the first being counted). This is what Tombazis is talking about.

In light of the aforementioned, I believe it is reasonable to assert that the wheel covers are experiencing some issues. It’s also important to note that they don’t look good.

Tombazis indeed know about this problem. We would have liked the wheel covers less, but we would have put them on once a year rather than having to stop a race.

If given the chance, we’d all pick a race car that is safe over one that looks good. Do you remember how crazy people were about the Halo? Lewis Hamilton and Zhou Guanyu are likely happy that the beauty crowd lost that fight. In any case, rainy-day wheel covers don’t do nearly enough to make their buy worth it.
