• It looks like the Tesla Cybertruck can only pull up to 11,000 pounds, which is 3,000 pounds less than what was promised.
  • Several websites say that the electric truck was on show at Tesla stores and that signs there told people how much it could tow and carry.
  • Along with the first deliveries to clients, which are set for later this week on November 30, more information about the Cybertruck should be made public.

When the Tesla Cybertruck was first released more than four years ago, the largest model was supposed to be able to pull up to 14,000 pounds. Even so, the production model will be able to carry a few thousand pounds less than that. New information suggests that the Cybertruck may be able to carry up to 11,000 pounds.

Getting back a Cybertruck

Signs in Tesla stores that showcase the electric car recently revealed how much the Cybertruck can tow. Many websites claim pictures of this were shared on the Cybertruck Owners Club community and on X, which used to be called Twitter.

On the other hand, other electric trucks that are currently being made can pull similar amounts. When it comes to pulling, the Rivian R1T and the Cybertruck can both pull up to 11 tons, but the Ford F-150 Lightning can only pull up to 10 tons. Chevy says the 2024 Silverado EV will be able to tow up to 10,000 pounds, and Ram says the next REV 1500 will be able to tow up to 14,000. A version that can tow up to 20,000 pounds is supposedly on the way.

What the Cybertruck can carry?

Additionally, the ads talked about the upcoming Cybertruck’s ability to tow and carry up to 2,500 pounds of cargo. At first, Tesla said that any Cybertruck could carry up to 3,500 pounds.

Although Tesla’s electric truck’s storage will be less than expected, the truck’s stated payload capacity is higher than that of most other electric trucks on the market. The Chevy can pull up to 1,400 pounds, the Ford up to 1,760 pounds, and the Rivian up to 2,235 pounds. The Ram REV 1500’s payload capacity is said to be 2,700 pounds.

Even though the company didn’t keep all of its earlier claims, the production Cybertruck would have a body made of stainless steel and an adjustable air suspension. But it doesn’t look like a $40K rear-wheel drive version with a single motor will be available. Also, we’re not sure if the “shatter-resistant glass” is the same as the much-talked-about bulletproof material, but there is a way to find out.

We’ll learn more when the first 2024 Tesla Cybertruck buyers receive their vehicles later this week. The event will take place at Tesla’s Gigafactory in Austin, Texas, on Thursday, November 30.
