• Kia will showcase two new ideas at this year’s SEMA show, which will take place next week in Las Vegas, Nevada.
  • One of the concepts is an electric three-row EV9, but it is equipped with light bars typically seen on off-road vehicles.
  • The other concept features similar lighting elements and seems to be based on the PV5, a modular electric van.

Today, Kia showed off some designs that it plans to show off next week at the SEMA show in Las Vegas. Next week, aftermarket suppliers and custom builders will be there in droves. One is easily recognizable to anyone who has seen the electric three-row Kia EV9, while the other is probably unknown to everyone unless you happened to catch Kia’s presentation at CES earlier this year.

Kia Unveils Two SEMA Concepts, Featuring An EV9 Equipped With Off-Road Lights

Going back to the EV9 concept (shown above), the new lighting parts are the most obvious change between it and the real car. There are three separate lights on the SUV’s nose, as well as a light bar above the window. Like the aftermarket parts that overlanders and off-roaders put on their cars, the extra lighting is similar. When looked at more closely, the EV9 prototype has front pull hooks, which are probably not on the showroom models. Is this an EV9 that’s meant to be used off-road, maybe an X-Pro model? Watch out.

The second teaser picture (above) took time to make us think of the Kia, but the strange lighting in the front caught our attention. The Kia modular electric car was shown off at CES last year and will likely go on sale next year. The concept car that will be shown at SEMA is a version of the PV5. We will know what else this Kia idea has to offer next week. For now, it only has a light bar on top and lower fog lights.
