Lamborghini announced their 2028 electrified car in May 2021. The legendary Italian supercar producer says the vehicle will be a 2+2 grand tourer and solely available as an EV. The business has yet to announce the next completely electric grand tourer.

Lamborghini CEO Stephen Winkelmann told HT Auto that the first all-electric car will have more ground clearance than its sports models.

He told the magazine it would be lower than the Lamborghini Urus SUV. Winkelmann believes the electric car will be more practical than the Huracan and Revuelto. He insists the car is not a crossover despite its higher ground clearance.

The CEO has intimated that the future Lamborghini electric car won’t be constructed on a Lamborghini-only platform. However, technical details have yet to be revealed. The electric automobile will exploit Volkswagen Group’s synergies. The Lamborghini Urus, Bentley Bentayga, Porsche Cayenne, Audi Q7, Audi Q8, and Volkswagen Touareg share motor parts.

Lamborghini is investing in eco-friendly powertrains in addition to electric powertrains. The brand’s most costly automobile, the Reveulto, boasts a new V12-powered PHEV powertrain.

Winkelmann said Lamborghini will manufacture plug-in hybrid powertrains for the Urus S/Performante and the 2024 Huracan replacement. The 2029 Urus replacement will also be electric.
