After the updated “ND3” MX-5 Miata comes out, Mazda is getting ready to show off a new roadster idea. The company that makes the MX-5 said on Tuesday that it will have its own area at the Japanese Mobility Show. There will be both new and old models on show, as well as a “new concept car designed to symbolize the exhibit theme.”

The teaser picture makes this idea look like it has something to do with a scissor-door car idea Mazda showed off last year. The back lights are very much the same. Mazda showed off its plans to make electric cars in the future, along with the catchy-sounding “Vision Study Model”.

In the world of current production cars, this is an incredibly long lifespan. However, the Miata has had longer lifespans before. The present ND Miata is likely to stay in use for a few more years. The third-generation NC was made for ten years, but the ND is still being made today. Mazda said that the next-generation Miata will be electric in some way, which we take to mean that it will be mixed in some way. The car company thinks that by 2030, 25% of its models will be fully electric, and the other models will have some kind of electric part.

Anyway, Mazda has no plans to stop making the MX-5 Miata, even though more and more people are buying electric cars. Late last year, a European Mazda official said that the sports car would “continue to exist forever.” We can’t picture our lives without the Miata, which is fine with us.
