• The V-12 Nilu was made by Sasha Selipanov, an automobile designer known for his work on the Bugatti Chiron, the Koenigsegg CC850, and the Lamborghini Huracán.
  • The Nilu’s 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12, manual gearbox, and reduced screen count reflect the simplified driving experience that high-end collectors are increasingly seeking.
  • The Nilu will be shown to the public for the first time on August 15, 2024, as part of Monterey Car Week.

Even though forced-induction and hybrid horsepower numbers are going up, manual transmissions and naturally aspirated engines are the new standards for high-end performance and luxury. This is true even though the number of traction-control program modes and touchscreen surfaces inside cars keeps going up. The Nilu, a hypercar that Nilu27 called themselves, is an example of this. The two-seater has a wide mouth, lightweight tube subframes, and a composite monocoque. It looks and drives like a traditional supercar, with an exposed V-12 engine, a seven-speed manual gearbox, and NACA vents.

Manual-transmission Nilu Hypercars have 1070 horsepower naturally aspirated V-12 engines

Nilu27 was created by Sasha and Inna Selipanov. Nica and Lucia are the names of the Selipanov girls, and the name comes from the racing number of Formula One driver Gilles Villeneuve. When Sasha was younger, she was inspired to become an automotive designer after seeing Villeneuve’s picture. Some of his most well-known car projects are the Gemera, CC850, Huracán, and Chiron for Koenigsegg, Lamborghini, and Bugatti, in that order. He turned down the safety of a well-known brand to make his idea of Nilu’s ideal hypercar.

Stunning Looks

Low to the ground and with a wide twin-scoop mouth, the Nilu looks like Jeremy Clarkson driving a BAC Mono. The bodywork rises steeply over 20-inch five-spoke wheels and then drops like a ski jump into a huge back scoop over a NACA duct. It then smooths out over the 21-inch rear wheels and tucks around the uncovered engine with its GT40-inspired “snake pit” of center-mounted exhaust pipes.

The carbon-fiber monocoque is connected to aluminum tubular subframes and holds up a forged double-wishbone pushrod suspension. It also has Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires (265/35R-20 up front and 325/30R-21 in the rear) and wide center-lock wheels made by AppTech and designed by Nilu27 sit beneath the dynamic curves of the body. New, thinner white brake drums and Brembo carbon ceramic brake discs should be able to stop the 2600-pound (dry weight) vehicle that is being planned.

Inside the gullwing doors of the Nilu, there are two set seats next to each other. It is becoming increasingly common to make supercars without big screens and driving wheels with buttons. The Nilu cockpit doesn’t have either of these things. The billet-machined switchgear, the floating bridgework gauge cluster, and the open, controlled seven-speed manual shifter are the main parts that get attention.

V-12 Free Air

The 6.5-liter V-12 engine does not have electric motors, turbochargers, or superchargers, but it still makes 1070 horsepower and 634 lb-ft of torque. New Zealand’s Hartley Engines worked with Nilu27 to create a huge 80-degree hot-V mill with 12 throttle bodies, a redline of over 10,000 rpm, and a loud and impressive 12-into-1 3-D-printed Inconel exhaust system that is the focal point of the car’s open back view. Nilu27 says the car should be able to go from 0 to 60 mph in less than three seconds and reach a top speed of about 250 mph.

Plans for Making Things

Nilu27 says that the Nilu hypercar will be shown to the public for the first time on August 15 at Pebble Beach as part of Car Week. Only fifteen cars will be made in the first run. Aria Group will make them all in Irvine, California. In the future, 54 legal street cars will be made. People who can’t wait can look for the Nilu on the CSR Racing 2 mobile simulator software in November, but we still need price or delivery information.
