Stellantis has invested heavily in its Michigan sites, especially the Sterling Heights plant, which will begin producing the Ram 1500 REV this year. The Warren Truck Assembly Plant will create a future electric version of the Jeep Wagoneer, and both plants will continue to build internal-combustion vehicles. The Dundee Engine Plant will start making a new turbocharged four-cylinder engine for hybrid powertrains in 2025 and will continue to produce parts for EV systems. Atlantis plans to release several new electric cars over the next few months. These will include the 2025 Ram 1500 REV pickup truck, the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona power car, and the 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S luxury SUV. The company said it would invest about $406 million in three plants in Michigan to build its next lineup of electric cars. Before the end of the year, Stellantis’ first EV factory in the United States will open at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant, where the 2025 Ram 1500 REV is also made. The REV will be made at the same factory as the regular Ram 1500 and the 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger, which has an extra gas engine to make the electric drivetrain go farther. Stellantis says that the Sterling Heights plant will get $235.5 million so that all three 1500 models can be made on the same assembly line. Also, Stellantis is putting about $97.6 million into the Warren Truck Assembly Plant, which it says will be used to make an electric Jeep Wagoneer in the future. The company didn’t say much about the model’s look, but it did say that it would be one of four Jeep electric vehicles available around the world by the end of 2025 and that it would be made on the same line as the gas-powered Grand Wagoneer and Wagoneer models. The 2024 Wagoneer S, on the other hand, will be made in Toluca, Mexico. Finally, more than $73 million is expected to be put into the Dundee Engine Plant. The STLA Frame base will be changed so that battery trays can be put together and tested. Dundee will start making the 1500 REV this year. It will be built on that architecture. The plant will start making the front and back beams for the Wagoneer S’s STLA Large base in 2026. Stellantis said it would start making a new, turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine in Dundee. This engine will be available in hybrid cars starting in 2025. Internal combustion engines will still be made at the plant. The improvements to these three plants will help Stellantis’ “Dare Forward 2030” plan. In Europe, Stellantis plans to only sell electric cars by 2030. In the US, they will sell half as many light-duty trucks and electric cars. Stellantis will be getting closer to its goal of ending its use of carbon by 2038. Stellantis is also planning to make EVs for the US market outside of the US. The Wagoneer S will be made in Mexico, and the Charger Daytona will be made in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.
