• 147,110 EVs from Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis have been recalled because the Integrated Charging Control Unit is broken.
  • The 12-volt battery might stop charging because of worn-out parts, leaving the wheels without power.
  • The Genesis GV60, Electrified GV70, and Electrified G80, as well as the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, and Kia EV6, are all affected.

Last week, Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis sent paperwork to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) showing that they had to recall 147,110 electric cars. The Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) might not be able to charge the 12-volt battery, which would mean that the wheels would lose power. This is the main reason why the recall is being done. Several different types of EVs are affected.

More than 147K EVs from Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis have been recalled because they could lose power

Hyundai has called back 98,878 cars and trucks, including electric cars from its high-end Genesis brand. One of the cars that will be affected is the Hyundai Ioniq 5 from 2022 to 2024 and the Ioniq 6 from 2023 to 2024. The Genesis GV60, GV70, and GV80 electric cars from the 2023 and 2024 model years are also affected. This is also the case with 48,232 electric EV6 cars from the years 2022, 2023, and 2024.

For all brands, dealers will check the ICCU, change its fuse if needed, and keep the software up to date. All of this will be sent to you for free. Owners of Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia cars should get notices on May 14 and April 29 respectively.
