Morgan has introduced its latest flagship model, the Supersport, featuring both interchangeable hard and soft tops—plus, it even includes a trunk! The Supersport is built upon an enhanced iteration of Morgan’s aluminum platform and features a BMW-sourced straight-six engine beneath the hood. The new model is set to be the fastest Morgan to date, with the company projecting an impressive 3.9-second acceleration from zero to 62 mph. The British company has released its newest top-of-the-line car, the Supersport, which will replace the Plus Six. The Supersport looks just like a Morgan, which isn’t a surprise since Morgan is known for taking its time. Even though the Supersport is well-known, it receives many changes every day that make it a better place to live. The Supersport has covers that can be changed for starters. There’s a soft top for when the weather looks good and a carbon-fiber hard top for when the weather looks more, um, British. Notably, it is the first Morgan with a luggage area that can be reached from the outside. There was also a trunk on it. The chassis for the Supersport is built on Morgan’s CX aluminum platform, which has been changed. The company that made the new frame says it is 10% more rigid in a torsional direction than the old one. Choosing a carbon roof also makes it 10% more rigid. The turbocharged straight-six engine from BMW makes 335 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, the same as the Plus Six before it. Morgan says the Supersport is the fastest car it has ever made. It can go from 0 to 62 mph in 3.9 seconds and has an estimated top speed of 166 mph. Even though it’s much bigger than earlier Morgans, the Supersport is said to be easy to drive. The company says a new underbody cuts lift by 20% and that the new model’s basic setup has a softer, more compliant ride. Unfortunately, Morgan CEO Matt Hole told Road & Track that the model would not be available in the US. This means that we will not be able to buy the Supersport here. The company is working hard to bring the Plus Four back to the US, which is a shame because the Supersport, which costs £85,000 in the UK (about USD 110,000 now), looks like a great choice.
