You probably know that many parts of your favourite car were made by someone other than those whose names are on the hood. Original equipment makers (OEMs) don’t make infotainment systems, driving aids, interior materials (including funny vegan leathers), brake systems, chassis parts, or tires. Instead, automotive suppliers quietly make these things. Even though they aren’t as well-known as the companies they work for, suppliers like Bosch, Continental, Denso, and ZF are essential to car technology development. We jumped at the chance when Continental asked us to go to the TechShow in Frankfurt, Germany, this year. If what was shown is any sign, the future cars will be intelligent, engaging, and scary.
