• Nissan showed off the 2025 Kicks, a redesigned small car.
  • The new model is not only bigger than the old one, but it also has a more powerful engine and an available all-wheel drive system.
  • In the US, you’ll be able to get the Kicks later this summer.

The 2025 Nissan Kicks is a small vehicle that has been greatly improved. Compared to the last model, it looks much more modern, is bigger, and now comes with an all-wheel-drive choice and a bigger engine. The first-generation Kicks was a basic front-wheel-drive hatchback that looked like a crossover. This redesign moves it into the mainstream subcompact SUV class, where it will fight with cars like the Hyundai Kona and Mazda CX-30.

Nissan will grow with AWD and more space in 2025

More advanced and bigger

The new Kicks are longer, wider, and bigger than the old ones. It comes in two-tone paint, a strong head, and wide wheel arches. The trim levels will be S, SV, and SR. As you can see above, the SR model has a unique style, 19-inch wheels, accent lights under the headlights, and sporty touches inside, like red stitching. The new Kicks also have 8.4 inches of ground clearance, which is a big improvement over the old model’s 7.0 inches.

Nissan claims the new model has additional cargo and back seat room. It has a bigger interior that is also full of basic and extra technological features. Along with the normal 7.0-inch touchscreen, the SR can be ordered with two huge 12.3-inch screens, one for the main entertainment screen and one for the digital gauge cluster. Also, more features that help the driver are now common. For example, Nissan offers the ProPilot Assist feature as an option. A 10-speaker Bose sound system and a panoramic sunroof are also on the choices page.

More power and an AWD option

It has one engine, a 2.0-liter inline-four with 141 horsepower, and an automatic transmission that changes gears all the time. This engine is also found in the Sentra small car. The new engine should be faster than the old 1.6-liter Kicks engine, but the new model will probably be heavier, so it won’t be a drag driver by any means. All-wheel drive is now available on all trim levels. Front-wheel drive is still standard, though. All-wheel drive has mechanical parts under the back floor, which makes it less roomy for goods.

Because it’s bigger, we think the new model will cost a little more than the old model, which was mostly appealing because of its low starting price. Nissan still calls it an “entry-level” car, though, so we think a base S FWD model will cost around $23,000, and a fully loaded SR AWD will cost around $30,000. The 2025 Kicks will be sold for the first time in the United States at the end of this summer.
