The 2025 Alfa Romeo Tonale introduces a nonhybrid model with a 268-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The Tonale continues to offer a plug-in hybrid variant, though Alfa has reduced the lineup to just one trim and a Tributo Italiano special edition. The nonhybrid Tonale is priced from $38,530, approximately $10,000 less than the PHEV, which begins at $48,030, while the Tributo Italiano starts at $57,185. At first, the Alfa Romeo Tonale could come with either a plug-in hybrid system or a regular engine that wasn’t a hybrid. But Alfa pulled the gas-only version before the Tonale went on sale for the 2024 model year, even though it was meant to be sold in the US. The Stellantis-owned brand has changed its 2025 plan since a non-hybrid form of its subcompact luxury SUV became available in the United States. Furthermore, leaving out the plug saves a lot of money. Fewer Trim Options and Two Types of Engines There is a new 2025 Alfa Romeo Tonale that isn’t a hybrid. It starts at $38,530, which is about $10,000 less than the plug-in hybrid version, which starts at $48,030, which is $2590 more than last year. Even though the Alfa SUV competes with the Dodge Hornet in a roundabout way, the lower price could help the failing company sell more cars. Alfa has also made its whole line of cars simpler. The Tonale, the Stelvio small SUV, and the Giulia sports sedan all only come in one or two trim levels. There is also a Tributo Italiano special version of the trio that has only been made a few times. The Tonale Tributo Italiano starts at $57,185. The Tonale doesn’t have a hybrid system. It has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine that makes 268 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. With nine speeds, the engine is matched with an all-wheel drive system that comes standard. The Tonale PHEV has a 1.3-liter turbo-four engine and an electric motor placed in the back, producing 285 horsepower and 347 pound-feet of torque. It took our test car 5.5 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph, and it came with all-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic gearbox. The 2025 Tonale hybrid can go 33 miles on power alone, and the government says it will get 29 miles per gallon on gas overall. The Tonale that isn’t a hybrid gets 24 MPG on average. Everyone who buys a Tonale gets a 12.3-inch digital gauge panel, a 10.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, adaptive cruise control, a driver’s seat that can be adjusted in height, a heated steering wheel and front seats, and a wireless charging pad. You can get a $1000 Veloce package for both plug-in and non-hybrid cars. It comes with adaptive dampers, shift paddles, and red Brembo brake calipers. You can also get Active Assist and Premium packages for $2,000 each. The second one has ventilated front seats, perforated leather seating, and a motorized liftgate. The first one, on the other hand, has a 360-degree video system and a mode for semi-autonomous driving.
