If I had to pick one thing about the Rivian R1T’s style, the wheels that come with it aren’t fascinating. Even though you could “fix” things with (usually harmful) add-ons, Rivian owners already have a cheaper and possibly better choice. Many owners of Rivian pickup trucks are buying Rams because they are cheap and almost match the look of their cars.

Ram wheels are being used increasingly on Rivians, which has been happening for about a year. Rivian users have been unhappy that a full-size manufacturer spare costs $1,235. Users of the Rivian Forums found an option in the 20-inch alloy wheels on Dodge Ram 1500s from 2002 to 2012. They have the same bolt design (5×139.7) and are the same size as Rivian’s most miniature factory wheels. They’re not exact copies because they’re 0.50 inches thinner, have a lower offset of 19 mm (instead of 48 stock), and have a smaller size of 64.1 mm instead of 77.8 mm for the Ram wheel. But they go through the suspension at all heights, and a hub-centric ring ensures no problems with fitting.

They are cheaper than a full-size spare part from the Rivian plant. Buying a wheel from scrap or a Ram owner who has switched to aftermarket means the light can be purchased for less than the cost of a new tire. They save money even if you buy a brand-new wheel.

They also look better since the Rivian R1T is made to look like the simple, rounded-block Ram wheel from the 2000s. Many Rivian users agree, as shown by the many Internet photos showing R1Ts on Ram wheels. Even if you like how the car came from the factory, it makes sense to have these as a backup for putting on winter tires. They will keep doing this until someone makes a steelie this size, even though Rivians could just as easily use these.
