On July 12, Caterham will show off a new electric car. A recent story from Autocar says it will be a two-seat sports car. The story says the new sports car has nothing to do with the Seven, even though it looks like the Seven. The automobile was designed and built by Anthony Jannarelly, who is best known for his contributions to the W Motors Lykan HyperSport. Caterham says that on July 12, a new electric car will go on sale. The company also showed a sneak peek video of the new car on social media. The 22-second video also shows the date when the new Caterham will be revealed and gives a sneak peek at the front of the vehicle. Autocar recently talked to Anthony Jannarelly, who oversees Caterham’s design. His best-known project is the W Motors Lykan HyperSport, which he worked on. Autocar says that the idea was “just an idea in people’s heads” in September and that a design reveal is getting close. Now we have a Jannarelly suggested to Autocar that replacing the front-mounted combustion engine with an electric motor would be a boon to Caterham’s expansion. “The principle is always a lightness,” Jannarelly said. This lightness also makes it easier and more enjoyable to drive. Prepare for a change The CEO of Caterham, Bob Laishley, told Autocar that the new electric car would stick to the company’s core values while being different from the Seven. Since both automobiles only have two occupants, we can assume that the inside will be similarly stripped down. With an EV powertrain, making the car smaller and adding new design features will be possible. Laishley also gave more information about the shape of the future car, including a possible hint about the roof. He told Autocar, “Like the Seven, it will have a steel space frame, but a different one because they’re easy to change in production if needed.” Since the beginning, there have been Pure EVs A six-panel body of aluminium or carbon fibre will have two sills, two doors, and hatch openings in the front and back. It might even have a roof. We’re only using the rear-wheel drive and building it from the start as an electric vehicle. A working version could come out as soon as 2026 and will be shown off in less than a month.
