If you’re not part of the Herbst family and want to race in serious desert racing soon, you have some choices, but they all cost a lot of money. You can look for a used trophy truck or reach out to Polaris to buy a new RZR Pro R Factory. Ford will sell a Bronco DR for $295,000. Polaris is making 30 ready-to-use race cars, each costing $139,999. These cars are meant to compete in the SCORE Pro UTV Open class in 2025.

A High-Performance Race-Ready SXS

Sharp viewers will see that Polaris sells the regular RZR Pro R for $36,994, which is significantly lower than this amount. The Factory, which took first place in its class at Dakar this year, is different from the RZRs you see riding in the hills near you.

The original version of the Pro R produces up to 255 horsepower and comes with a transmission oil cooler, two cooling fans, and a radiator placed in the back. In comparison, the regular model has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that gives 225 horsepower. The body is made of carbon fiber, and the Sparco race seats are made of carbon and Kevlar. Alcon brakes also have in-cabin bias adjustment, allowing for fine-tuning while moving. The tools and extra tire are placed for easy reach, which is helpful when you often slide into thick dust clouds. A dry-break link allows for fast refueling during pit stops, and a large 34.3-gallon fuel tank should help increase the time between refuels.

Of course, there’s a lot more involved; very little was left out. The wiring has been improved, and the cell is now a lightweight lithium one. The $47,994 RZR Pro R Race Replica Edition may not have 35-inch tires, but it does come with “purple animated RZR fang accent lighting.” This gives it a factory-like look for those who want a special vehicle without actually participating in the Mint 400 race. Which, to us, seems bold.
