The Porsche Macan with gas engines may last for another generation. They talk about the company’s drop in sales in 2024, which was attributed to problems with electrification that were so bad that some people thought Porsche would stop making the all-electric Taycan in Stuttgart.

Porsche Might Actually Make A New Macan That Runs On Gas

A stopgap answer that works like the Ram Classic plan would be to keep the old model along with the new one to attract customers who don’t want to deal with the cost or difficulty of switching to electric power. However, the “Macan Classic” approach will work well in non-European countries for now. Because of stricter cyber laws, the platform’s electronic design would need to be redone from scratch in order to be up to date for sales around the world. At this point, why put it in the new Macan? Porsche believes that its systems can handle it.

How much does the Macan help Porsche’s bottom line? In 2024, Porsche sold more than 101,000 ICE and EV cars. Of those, 82,795 were gasoline-powered, which was a 5% drop, but the 18,278 all-electric cars sold that same year more than made up for it.

In addition to being Porsche’s second-best-selling brand name, the Macan makes up almost a third of the company’s total sales. The Cayenne takes up almost the same amount of room. The last third of the space is used for Porsche’s other cars, like the Taycan, Panamera, and other sports cars. It will be very careful with anything that could hurt one of the company’s main business plans.

With those numbers, it makes sense for Porsche to want to change how its small crossover looks. The company has already planned for a possible Ram Classic situation with the Cayenne. Will a similar recipe work well with the younger people who buy Macans? Porsche’s product makers have to make a tough choice here.
