In a short film, Ram showed a sneak peek of a brand-new pickup truck that would be delivered to the public on May 10. The 9-second video shows dirty headlights and what sounds like an engine screaming. The slogan “A New Force Is Landing” refers to a new engine for the Ram 1500, most likely a Hurricane twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six. Soon, Ram will put out a new pickup truck. Last week, the company shared a short video on its social media accounts to hint at the news. On May 10, it will be done. Finally, determine the Ram name. The above nine-second video starts with a cloud of dust moving over a scene in the desert. The picture then shows a person looking through binoculars, and when it returns to the cloud, the watcher sees a truck’s headlights speeding toward them. Before the picture stops, there is a roaring sound, then the words “A New Force Is Landing” and the date. We are still determining what Ram will show, but a new engine for the company’s half-ton pickup truck is probably what it will be. This is the Hurricane 3.0 litter inline-six with twin turbochargers already offered in the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. The standard engine version makes 420 horsepower and 468 pound-feet of torque. A high-output engine version makes 510 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque. The drive train has two Hurricane engines and eight gears. There is a chance that Ram will say something very different. It could be the long-rumored midsize Dakota or a new Ram TRX with a Hellcat engine. Even though neither will likely work, we will know for sure on Wednesday. Keep watching.
