• The concept was first shown at the Paris car show in 2017, but it was silver at the time.
  • The 2023 French Open, which starts later this month, will use the new idea.
  • Renault showed the 4Ever Trophy concept car for the first time at the Paris auto show the year before. It was a salute to the original Renault 4 and a sneak peek at its future comeback. The company just released a new version of the design, this time in Ile-de-France Blue with bright accents.

Renault says the new concept’s color scheme is based on the “iconic tennis balls of the French Open,” where the car will be shown for the first time. Even though it seems a little far-fetched, the idea is excellent.

The bottom half of the electric crossover is made of rugged panels, and it has all-terrain tires and a spare tire on a rack on the top. If the small four gets stuck off-road, the back window has traction boards and a shovel to help.

The Île-de-France Blue cooler of the new model was based on the cooler of the first Renault 4L, which came out in 1962. The original car hasn’t been made in almost 30 years, but Renault wants to return it as a small EV SUV.

Sandeep Hembra, head of advanced and concept design at Renault, told the magazine Top Gear that the idea is “very close” to the final car. Even though the updated four won’t be available in North America, that won’t stop us from drooling over the pictures. The new four will likely be more significant and cost more than the 5. Even though it has a lower number, the five will be much more like the original city-going four than the 4.
