• The CX-70, Mazda’s newest midsize SUV with two rows of seats, will be available in the US in 2019.
  • The platform for the CX-90 and the CX-70 is the same. The CX-70 was meant to come out this year.
  • An electric motor and, most likely, Mazda’s new 3.3-liter inline-six engine will be in it.

We’ve been waiting for the younger brother of Mazda’s three-row CX-90 SUV to come. It was supposed to be on sale by the end of this year, but Mazda North American CEO Tom Donnelly says it will now be in 2024. The CX-70 is a two-row midsize SUV.

Reports say that the Mazda CX-70 will enter the US market in 2024

Mazda wanted to sell more cars in the US, so it made the CX-70 to meet the needs of people there who wished to SUVs. The company will sell the CX-30 small, the CX-50 and CX-5 compacts, and the CX-70 and CX-90 midsize.

The CX-70 is already known to be a widebody version of the CX-60, an SUV already on the European market. This means that we already know what to expect from it. The CX-70 will be shorter than the CX-90, and the two cars will probably share powertrains. The engines will be set up longitudinally, though. Donnelly says that the CX-70 will have a hybrid motor. It will probably use the same system as the CX-90 PHEV, which has a 2.5-liter inline-four gasoline engine. The CX-70 should get its engine from the CX-90. Based on the trim level, it is a 3.3-liter inline-six turbocharged engine that can make 280 or 340 horsepower.

More information about the Mazda CX-70 is likely to come out in the next few months, but there is still yet to be an official date for its availability.
