Ferrari dominated Formula One in its heyday. Michael Schumacher was winning races everywhere, filling Maranello with trophies. Because of their significance in motorsports history, his old F1 cars are being sold for millions.

CarBuzz reports that Sotheby’s Sealed will sell Michael Schumacher’s F2001b in August. The car’s history was intriguing despite its three 2002 races.

F1 teams must build new cars every season. Ferrari introduced the F2001b, a modified 2001 competitor, at the start of the 2002 season. Schumacher drove the first two races. He used a backup car for the third Brazilian race.

Schumacher’s F2001b qualified second in Australia’s opening round. The German driver won Sunday. After crashing with Ralf Schumacher on the opening lap, pole-sitter Rubens Barichello lost control of his car. Schumacher secured Ferrari’s 150th pole position in Malaysia and finished third despite BMW-Williams’ faster cars.

Brazil hosted Schumacher’s F2002’s third race. This F1 car became legendary. Schumacher’s F2001b backup was accessible. The F2001b and F2002 had differing wheel diameters. Hence Ferrari needed separate tires. This needs to be clarified for tire allocations. Both cars will employ standard parts, the team decided.

Barichello was racing the F2001b in Brazil. Transfer design ended when he got his F2002 for the San Marino Grand Prix in round four. The F2001 B ran for speed, not endurance.

Schumacher’s F2001b race car has a solid track record. However, it was only raced a few times and is not his best Ferrari. Sotheby’s only provides estimates when requested. It will be valuable even if it doesn’t sell for $14.8 million like last year’s F2003.
