• Ford is recalling 870,000 2021–2023 F-150 pickup trucks to address a parking brake issue.
  • According to NHTSA documents, a wiring issue could cause the electronic brake to work unexpectedly.
  • Owners will learn on September 11.

Ford F-150 owners can mistakenly set the parking brake. 870,701 2021–2023 trucks are impacted. The NHTSA was warned that the rear axle wiring harness may touch the housing. This contact could short circuit if the tape and insulation separate and expose the wire. The parking brake warning light and instrument panel message may illuminate.

The NHTSA received 918 wire-pain complaints by July 11. Two hundred ninety-nine mistakenly put on their parking brake, 19 while driving. F-150 pickups with single exhausts from January 2020 to February 2023 are affected. The issue has caused no accidents or injuries. The support will be modified if a tie strap and tape wrap don’t repair it.
