• Nikkei Asia says that Afeela wants to show off two more models after its sedan comes out in 2026.
  • The first will be an SUV that will be about the same size and price as the car and should come out in 2027.
  • The following model will be a cheap little car that looks a lot like a Toyota Corolla. It should be on sale by at least 2028.

Sony and Honda’s joint venture, Afeela, showed off an updated version of its first product, an unknown electric car, at CES 2024. The U.S. version of Afeela will come out in 2026. A new report from Nikkei Asia says that Afeela plans to release two more electric cars this decade in addition to the sedan. The reveal includes a new look and more information about the engine.

Sony and Honda are working together on Afeela to make an SUV and a cheap compact form

It is a small model that doesn’t cost too much and a new SUV

The newspaper says that the Afeela car will come out in 2025. Afeela said that the car would be ready to order that year, but we don’t think it will be sold in the U.S. until 2026. The second Afeela car, which is likely to be an SUV and is linked to the electric car, will come out in 2027.

By 2028, people will be able to buy a smaller form that costs less. Nikkei Asia says it should be about the same size as a Toyota Corolla. All three types will use the same platform to save money and time on development. Most likely, parts from Honda’s line of electric vehicles will be used in the small model. From what I’ve heard, some features and equipment will be left out of the compact version in order to keep prices low.

The first car to be sold was the hatchback. We thought it would cost around $45,000, but Nikkei Asia says the four-door will likely cost more than 10 million yen, which is about $66,000, in its home market. A 91.0-kWh battery that can be charged at up to 150 kW and an electric motor on each end with 241 horsepower will give the car all-wheel drive.
