Over the last few months, Honda has slowly been revealing more details about the 2026 Passport TrailSport. The off-road SUV was first seen at the 2024 Rebelle Rally in October of last year. The next month, we saw it without the camouflage, and a few weeks after that, we got to drive a pre-production version. Honda has finally shared all of the TrailSport’s specs and price information, which completes the puzzle.

Starting Today, The 2026 Honda Passport Trailsport Is Available, With The Toyota 4Runner In Its Sights

The new TrailSport is the most off-road-ready SUV that the company has ever made, and it looks great. Style cues like strong roof rails, a vent built into the hood, a lot of black plastic cladding, and orange-finished recovery hooks sticking out from a shorter front bumper give it a tougher look than its predecessor. There are reports that the TrailSport’s design is more useful than it looks, even though it sounds like a winning card in a game of “off-road trim bingo.”

One way for owners to set up fishing rods and skis without hurting them is to black out the back half of the roof. To avoid losing an expensive battle with a rock on the trail, the exhaust tip is tucked under the rear bumper. Sturdy 31-inch tires and suspension that are tailored to the trim level raise the vehicle off the ground. To get under the TrailSport, you can use the extra ground clearance. There are steel skid plates there. They protect the fuel tank, engine, and oil pan, so even if the 4,700-pound Passport hits a rock, they won’t break.

The 2026 Passport’s 3.5-liter V6 engine makes 285 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, no matter what trim level it is in. The engine in the SUV can pull up to 5,000 pounds, and a 10-speed automatic transmission sends power to all four wheels. Front-wheel drive is not an option. Even though the TrailSport gets a lot of attention for its off-road skills, it’s important to note that it doesn’t have a locking differential or a two-speed transfer case. If you’re going off-road in Utah, don’t expect to keep up with a Jeep Wrangler. It’s not designed to go off-road.

The new Passport does have some tech tricks, though. It has Honda’s second-generation i-VTM4 torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive technology, which has a rear axle that can handle 40% more torque. When things get tough, the Passport can send up to 70% of its power to the back wheels and 100% to either the left or right wheel.

The full range of 2026 passports costs the following, which includes a $1,450 location fee.

  • It costs $46,200 RTL to get a visa.
  • It takes $46,900 for an RTL tow for a passport.
  • There is a $47,400 limit on passport RTL.
  • The Passport TrailSport costs $49,900.
  • It costs $51,100 for a Blackout Passport TrailSport.
  • It costs $53,900 for a TrailSport Elite Passport.
  • It costs $55,100 for a Blackout Passport TrailSport Elite.

The Blackout Package includes 18-inch alloy wheels with a black finish, black lug nuts, and black exterior emblems. The Towing Package includes a Class III hitch with a 7-pin link and two rear recovery points. The Elite trim really lives up to its name; it comes with a 360-degree camera called TrailWatch and an 18-inch wheel painted in Berlina Black, which NSX fans will know right away.

Honda really wants you to take the Passport TrailSport off-road. The company makes many extras, like rock sliders, 18-inch wheels, and a full-size spare tire. They also make overlanding-specific items, like a fold-out camp table, a cargo roof platform, and MOLLE storage systems.

Alabama is where the 2026 Honda Passport was made and is now for sale. Would you choose it over a 4Runner? The base SR5 trim starts at $42,220, while the TRD Off-Road is in the Passport TrailSport zone and costs $50,640. Leave a comment with your choice.
