Audi is changing some of its most popular cars right now.    Audi first showed off the 2025 A5, which will replace the famous A4.    Then, with the 2025 Q5, the third version of the brand’s best-selling car came out.    Audi now has a new A6, and the first form of the mid-size car is an Avant wagon.    The new A6 Avant won’t be sold in the US (at least not in RS or Allroad form), but a car is likely to come out soon with many of the same improvements as the Avant in Europe.

Stylish New Audi A6 Avant Offers A Glimpse Of The Next-Generation Sedan For The U.S.

Sleek Design and 48-Volt Support

At first view, the new A6 Avant doesn’t look very different from the old one. However, its wide front grille and strong creases give it a sleek, muscular look that is very different from the old one’s sad look.    Between the boomerang-shaped parts that make up the front of the car’s open mouth are big vents that let air flow around the side of the car.    There are deep grooves in the hood, and the headlights use Audi’s signature complicated LEDs.    The A6 has the lowest drag coefficient of any Audi internal combustion car, at 0.25. This is because of how sleek it looks.

There are three engines under the hood, but only one will be sold in the US for the A6 car.    There will only be a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine available in the US. This engine sends 362 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque to all four wheels and has 48-volt electrical assistance. In Europe, the A6 will come with a 2.0-liter inline-four turbocharged with 201 horsepower and a 2.0-liter diesel four-cylinder turbocharged with the same output.    The gas 2.0-liter engine takes 8.3 seconds to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour, while the V-6 takes only 4.7 seconds. The V-6 only drives the front wheels.

There is a 1.7-kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery, a belt alternator starter, and a powertrain generator in the 48-volt setup.    The A6 Avant can run on electricity when it is moving slowly, like when it is in traffic or when it is parked.    When starting from a stop or past another car, it adds 24 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque. It can also take over for short periods when the car is coasting.    The A6 Avant’s 48-volt technology can store energy when the car slows down.

Advanced Technology Inside and Out

The A6 will have rear-wheel steering when it has all-wheel drive. This will make the big wagon easier to drive in small spaces and more stable at high speeds.    A Quattro Sport rear differential and adjustable air suspension can be added to the wagon to make it more agile.    They say that the steering is more direct now that the torsion bars and control arm bushings are stronger.    Audi changed the camber on the front axle to back up their claim that the steering is more sensitive and intuitive.

The inside looks a lot like the 2025 A5 and Q5, with three screens and a lot of silver trim.    Next to the main 14.5-inch tablet, which is slightly tilted toward the driver, is a set of digital gauges that are 11.9 inches wide.    A head-up display and a unique 10.9-inch screen for the front passenger are both available as options.    It has a panoramic glass roof, an automatic climate control system with four zones, and a Bang & Olufsen surround sound system with speakers in the front headrests.    The driver can choose from seven different types of light when changing the outside lighting.    Also, the lights can individually brighten or dim certain parts of the road ahead. This makes driving at night safer for both the A6 driver and other drivers.

At the current exchange rate, the gas-powered four-cylinder will be sent to Europe at the end of May for $61,000. Sales will not start in the US until 2026. The A6 car should be shown off later this year. The US may get a more powerful four-cylinder engine along with the V-6. Prices for this engine will start in the low $60,000 range.
