Tesla’s well-known shape Soon, Y SUV will be offered with cheaper rear-wheel drive. The so-called Standard Range variant was available early on in the life of the variant Y, but it was phased out in favor of all-wheel-drive cars with better range. Model Y Standard Range versions, which start at $45,630 and go up to 260 miles, can be ordered from the company’s website for $7500 less than an all-wheel drive Long Range with a claimed range of 330 miles. Tesla’s rear-wheel-drive Model Y Standard Range, which had been taken off the market, is now back in stock and can be bought on the company’s website. Automotive News says the change was made because fewer cars were sold than expected in the third quarter, which makes sense. Tesla has regularly changed its car prices throughout the year to keep up with inflation and a growing number of new electric vehicle (EV) rivals. Earlier this year, the company also released Standard Range versions of the more expensive Model S car and Model X SUV. This lowered the starting price of both high-end vehicles by around $10,000. But these cars didn’t last long. After a few weeks, they were replaced by long-range cars with all-wheel drive that cost less. Are they stumbling in a hurry? Maybe so. Putting options on an online setup and seeing what people choose might be the trial-and-error method at work. Cheaper electric vehicles are sometimes a good thing. Right now, you can buy a Model Y Standard Range from Tesla’s website and get it as soon as this month. Prices for models with no extras start at $45,630, and the highest distance you can drive this model is said to be 260 miles. If you pay an extra $2,000 for the more attractive 20-inch Induction wheels, the estimated range drops to 242 miles per charge. Since the Model 3, which is the base for the Model Y, is getting an update for the 2024 model year, we expect that the SUV will also get an update, though it might be in the 2025 model year.
