Automakers have started punishing flippers hard in the past few years in an attempt to prevent people from swiftly and profitably selling low-volume, high-demand autos. If a client sells their car within a year, several automakers, such as Porsche and Chevrolet, may penalize them by decreasing their warranties or barring them from purchasing future desirable options. Tesla is going to make it illegal for Cybertruck buyers to sell their cars during the first year they own them, so add that to the list.

In Tesla’s vehicle order agreement, the Cybertruck section now says that the low-polygon pickup will only be available in small numbers and that buyers agree not to sell them within the first year. Still, if a customer needs to sell their Cybertruck for some unplanned reason, they can bring it back to Tesla as long as Tesla agrees that the reason is valid.

Tesla has threatened to sue Cybertruck Flippers for as much as $50,000 during the first year of ownership

“You know that there will only be a certain number of Cybertrucks available at first.” You promise that for the first year after getting the car, you will not sell or trade it in any way. In any case, you agree to write to Tesla and give them a reasonable amount of time to buy the car from you at its discretion for the price listed on your Final Price Sheet, less $0.25 per mile driven, normal wear and tear, and the cost to fix the car to Tesla’s Used Vehicle Cosmetic and Mechanical Standards if you have to sell it within the first year of receiving it for any reason.

The customer can ask Tesla for authorization to sell the automobile to another party if they want Tesla to buy it back. If, however, a customer goes through with a third-party sale anyway, Tesla will either try to stop the deal with an injunction or sue the customer for up to $50,000 in damages.

Tesla says that cyber trucks will officially go on sale on November 30, but it needs to be clarified how many buyers will actually get their trucks at that time. There were issues with the assembly and functionality of the limited number of public prototype test mules, which is concerning considering the launch is scheduled for just two weeks. People who accept delivery and then have problems will have to keep the car for at least a year.
