• Tesla has just released small changes that enhance the appearance of the Model X SUV and the Model S car.
  • The Model S now features a new paint job, improved noise reduction, distinct damper settings, and a slightly longer range.
  • The main difference is the price. On Tesla’s consumer website, all Model S and Model X combos are now $5,000 more expensive.

The Model S sedan and the Model X SUV, Tesla’s most popular models, have been updated. The price changes that occur after the upgrades are significant, even though the upgrades themselves aren’t particularly impressive.

Tesla Revives The Model S And Model X, Raising Prices Significantly

That’s right; the Model X now features more space in the third row, new adaptive headlights, a new paint color called Frost Blue, new wheel designs that Tesla claims make the car more fuel-efficient, and a new camera in the front bumper for improved forward visibility. The Model S Plaid also features a unique exterior shape, which the company that manufactures it claims makes it more stable at high speeds.

Tesla believes that improved suspension springs will enhance the ride quality in both cars. The cabin should also be quieter thanks to better soundproofing and active noise cancellation. The EPA now says that the standard-battery Model S has a range of 410 miles, up from 402 miles before. This means that the non-Plaid model gets a few more miles.

For each option, the price goes up by $5,000. The Model S currently costs $86,630, while the Model S Plaid costs six figures and starts at $101,630. The Model X Plaid now costs $106,630, and the base Model X starts at $91,630. According to Tesla’s post about the changes, the updated cars can be purchased immediately, and both versions are expected to be delivered within two to four weeks.
