The redesigned Volkswagen Atlas, which debuted at the 2023 New York International Auto Show and will go on sale later this year, now comes with a tough-looking Peak Edition package. The 2019 Atlas Basecamp concept, which has black wheels and all-terrain tires, was the model for the Peak Edition car. The Peak Edition logo is lit up, and the dashboard has grey and orange accents. In 2023 NYIAS, VW showed off the Peak Edition trim of its popular three-row Atlas SUV. It has a more rugged look. The 2019 Atlas Basecamp concept inspired the 18-inch black wheels with all-terrain tires, lower bumper, and body-side mouldings on the Atlas Peak Edition. The Peak Edition is mainly made up of a set of extras. It will come in Avocado Green and Pure Gray, two colours Atlas doesn’t have. A badge also says “Peak Edition,” a grille that looks like the two-row Atlas Cross Sport, an illuminated Volkswagen logo, and a silver diffuser at the back. Black mirror caps, roof rails, and window trim are used to decorate the outside. For the Peak Edition service, a few changes have been made to the inside of the Atlas. The Atlas dashboard is sleek and lit with the Peak Edition logo. Orange stitching and grey details stand out against the black faux-leather upholstery. The SUV’s lower spoke has a Peak Edition badge that can be seen from the outside. The Atlas Peak Edition with three rows of seats will have all-wheel drive as standard. Still, those are the only differences; the SUV has yet to be changed in any technical way to make it better off-road. The Peak Edition sports an eight-speed automated transmission and a 269-hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine like all 2024 Atlas variants. This year, the Atlas Peak Edition will be one of many three-row SUVs for active families. Ford Explorer Timberline, Honda Pilot TrailSport, Kia Telluride X-Pro. Still, if you look closely at the pictures, you can see a small “SEL” logo on the SUV’s rear liftgate. This means that it is a mid-level or high-level Atlas. VW hasn’t said where the Peak Edition trim will fit in the lineup of Atlas models, but the photos suggest it will be in the middle. Based on this, the price will be around $50,000. After a VW official hinted at a second, less expensive Peak Edition model, we can only assume that a discontented SE trim could bring the package’s price down to around $45,000. Volkswagen says the Peak Edition treatment could be used in other ways, depending on what users want, but take your time with a rugged version of the company’s electric ID. The promotion would likely include the brand’s other gasoline-powered SUVs, like the Atlas Cross Sport and the small Taos crossover.
