• The DB11 will replace the DB12 in 2024, and the base price will likely be $245,000.
  • The DB12’s twin-turbo 671-hp 4.0-liter V-8 will let it go 3.5 seconds and 202 mph.
  • The frame of the DB12 has been changed a lot, and it also has an electronic rear differential and high-performance Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 tires.

The old needs to be changed with the new. That’s why Aston Martin replaced the DB11 with a new “super tourer” model instead of a “grand tourer.” The 2024 Aston Martin DB12 is a better car than the one it will replace, not just because it has a cool name.

The low and wide two-door shape is on purpose, and the new DB12 can’t be confused with anything but an Aston Martin. The swept-back headlights give off a new light, and the frameless side mirrors are now thinner. The car’s front and back tracks are also about 0.2 and 0.9 inches bigger, respectively. The DB12 is the first car made with Aston Martin‘s new logo, a pair of wings.

Down Below, the Long Hood

When the newest DB model comes out, the old 5.2-liter twin-turbo V-12 will no longer be made. Until Aston Martin comes out with a possible AMR performance version, the only engine offered is a twin-turbo V-8 with the same 4.0-liter capacity. The machine is still hand-built by Mercedes-AMG, just like before. But Aston Martin has made much more power available by completing the turbos bigger, changing the compression ratios, and remaking the cooling system.

The new and better V-8 makes 71 horsepower and 90 lb-ft torque between 2750 and 6000 rpm. The previous V-8 had 528 horses and 513 pound-feet of torque, and the previous V-12 had 630 horses and 516 pound-feet of torque. The 4.0-liter engine still turns the rear axle through an eight-speed automatic gear with a lower final-drive ratio. Aston says the DB12 can go as fast as 202 mph and get from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds.

The way is up to you.

The DB12’s suspension recently got springs that can be changed and more robust anti-roll bars. They come with 21-inch wheels with 315/30R-21 summer Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 tires on the back and 275/35R-21 summer tires on the front. Installing an electronic rear differential, which the company says can go from fully open to fully locked in almost no time, helps adjust the back tires.

Aston says that the DB12’s innovative electric steering system’s non-isolated steering column improves how the front wheels feel by controlling them. The car is stopped by cast-iron brakes 15.7 inches in front and 14.2 inches in the back. The carbon-ceramic set saves about 60 pounds of unsprung weight, and a new brake booster is said to make the pedal feel better. The DB12 is made of joined aluminum, which makes it 7% lighter and gives it better underbody support.

The DB12’s interior

Because it is being sold as more than just a grand tourer, the DB12 needs a super tourer-style cabin. The pictures make it look like the inside will be better than before, but once we get inside one, we will know how much headroom or legroom there is and how comfy or bad the driving position is.

The DB12’s interior seems more comfortable, but Aston’s Q program clarifies that it will be made of expensive materials and can be customized however you want. The hole under the center stack gives the dashboard the look of having more storage room. On the slope between the cupholders and the infotainment system, you can find a lot of real switches, such as rollers for the HVAC and volume settings, as well as a short electronic shifter. These changes are significant improvements over what Mercedes had before.

The new entertainment system from Aston has a 10.3-inch tablet that is wireless and works with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The onboard navigation system has 3-D mapping and an internet link, but most people use smartphone mirroring to get directions. The DB12’s design is the first to use Aston’s new smartphone app, which gives access to material and subscription services specific to the car. Three of these services are free for the first three years. It can also get changes to its software over the air.

The US will be able to buy the 2024 Aston Martin DB12 in the third quarter of this year. The coupe body style will likely start at $245,000, but no price information has yet been released. For those who know about the DB11, this is the same as adding $37K to the price of the V-8 roadster. The convertible DB12 Volante is scheduled to come out soon with a starting price of around $260K.
