• In 2024, the Ford Ranger will be more comprehensive, have a better interior, have more powertrain choices, and be able to carry more cargo.
  • The Ranger Raptor, which costs $58,555, now has a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 with 405 horsepower, 33-inch tires, and the same features.
  • Both cars will be made in Michigan and ready by the latter part of the summer of 2023.

The 2024 Ford Ranger and the 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor are set to be released. 315 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque are equivalent to a total of are giving the mid-size truck market a much-needed boost. Since they were made public a few years ago, they were the first ones there. Even though we knew we wouldn’t get the turbo-diesel engine or the manual gearbox, we thought about how good the US-spec truck was.

Long bed and extended cab, farewell

The 2024 Ranger has a four-door crew cab and five-foot bed like the Jeep Gladiator and Chevrolet Colorado. The updated Ford T6 chassis, also used for the Bronco SUV, has grown the wheelbase by 1.9 inches, but the total length has stayed almost the same (officially, it has shrunk by 0.2 inches). Because the front wheels have moved toward the bumper, the front bumper’s slope has shrunk by 1.9 inches. This also makes the approach angle steeper.

The back suspension of the Ranger is still made up of leaf springs (see below for more on the Raptor), but the shocks have been moved outboard so they are closer to the wheels and less likely to hit trail debris.

Because the overall width has grown by 2.3 inches, a 4-foot sheet of drywall can now fit between the wheelhouses. This is because the cab space and bed storage have also increased.

Please accelerate

The engine in the last model is refined. Our most recent test took the turbo four and 10-speed automatic 6.4 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph. We agree with Ford’s point of view, which is the same as ours.

The base XL ($35,755) still has the 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine with 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque, but the XLT and Lariat have the 2.7-liter twin-turbo V-6 from the Bronco and F-150. In this state, the V-6 can make 315 hap and 400 abaft, the equivalent of about the same as the Bronco can do when running on regular fuel. No matter what engine is used, the transmission will always have ten speeds.

There are two- and four-wheel drive options, but the four-wheel drive option doesn’t have a rear differential that locks. We wouldn’t be surprised if that were added to an unannounced Tremor version in the future.

More giant screens and more room

The interior of the 2024 Ranger has been changed and improved in long overdue ways. The base center screen has grown from 8.0 inches to 10.1 inches, and a giant 12.4-inch screen is set up vertically. Like the Bronco, the gauge cluster is digital and is either 8.0 inches or 12.4 inches in size. We had little time to play around with the screens, but they looked nice and worked well.

The Lariat 4×4 and Raptor have compact, short-throw electric shifters. Most Rangers use mechanical shifters. This lets the driver use driving aids like a trailer backup system and an automatic parallel and perpendicular parking system.

There is also a 360-degree camera on the outside, wireless Android Auto and Apple Carpal, over-the-air updates, and Ford’s Zone illumination system, which lets owners choose which outside lights to turn on when the car is stopped. Ford’s Trail Control off-road cruise control is added to Rangers with the FX4 off-road package.
