If you’ve been waiting for the 2024 Ford Ranger to come to the United States, it has. Not a moment too soon, though, because it will compete with the brand-new Chevrolet Colorado and the soon-to-be-released Toyota Tacoma in the medium truck market. It is built on an improved version of Ford’s T6 chassis and now comes with a 3.0-liter Eco Boost Ranger Raptor model with 405 horsepower and a 2.7-liter Eco Boost V6 as an option. The design of this truck is very different from the present Ranger because it looks more like the F-Series. The Ranger resembles the F-150 because it has a straight bar across the grille and C-clamp headlights. It was made more vital than before because North America was in mind when it was made. Like the one sold in the U.S. since 2019, this Ranger is an international model Ford has always planned to bring to the U.S. This also changed the 2024 Ranger’s engine choices, which now perfectly match those of the Bronco. The base model is still the 2.3-liter Eco Boost engine, which makes the same 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque as before. But any Ranger model that isn’t a Raptor can now get the 2.7-liter Eco Boost V6 with 315 horsepower and 400 lo-fi of torque. Anyone brave enough to buy the top-of-the-line Raptor will be happy with its 405 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, but that truck needs its blog, so I made one. All 2024 Ranger engines come with a 10-speed automatic transmission, so there is no way to get a manual transmission. The pickup’s T6 platform has been improved but has been around for a while. The leading creator of the 2024 Ranger, Juan De Pea, called it the “T6+.” Since the suspension dampers are outside the frame rail, the wheelbase is a bit longer, and the track is bigger. In our version, we only have the crew cab, Ranger. The 2024 Ranger can pull up to 7,500 pounds because its design has been improved. The 2.3-liter turbo four and the 2.7-liter turbo V6 can reach that number, but only the smaller engine and two-wheel drive can deliver the best-in-class maximum payload of 1,805 pounds. Ford’s clever engineering means that a four-foot piece of plywood fits easily between the wheel wells and can be reached by a truck step that is easy to find. Even with the improvements to the truck’s mechanics, people who want to drive a 2024 Ranger daily will be interested in how it looks inside. The last truck was made in the middle of the previous decade and showed. This one is more modern, with a bigger, vertical infotainment screen that may be as big as 12 inches diagonally and a standard digital gauge cluster. Ford also made more space inside because the car was more prominent. Lower trims stay simple, although this is sometimes a good thing. Regarding equipment that helps the driver, the 2024 Ranger is far ahead of the competition. Blue Cruise’s hands-free drive is still unavailable here, but Pro Trailer Backup Assist is now. Also, when properly equipped, it has Active Park Assist, Adaptive Cruise with Stop and Go, and a Blindspot Information System that works with trailers. The 360-degree camera system will help you if you want to go off-roading or park in a tight spot. You have until the end of summer to save up for the 2024 Ranger. The base XL model starts at $34,160 and goes up from there. Even though it is still the least expensive Raptor on the market, the Ranger Raptor will cost a lot more at $56,960. When we drive it later this year, we’ll know if it’s worth that much money.
