• The brand’s newest luxury van, the Lexus LM, will come out in 2024. However, it is only sold in foreign markets.
  • The inside of the new LM is even more luxurious, with thicker sheet metal and a more substantial base.
  • The LM can fit up to seven people inside, but the four-seat setup has chairs that look like lounge chairs and face a 48-inch screen.

Imagine you’ve had too much to drink and it’s late. So you open the Uber app and ask for a ride. Shortly after, a 2024 Lexus LM luxury van pulls up in front of the Taco Bell, where you just finished your taco party pack.

When the sliding side door of the LM is opened, it reveals a luxurious interior with two lounge-style chairs facing a 48-inch screen on a wall between the back and front seats. The quieter interior of the new van will help you fall asleep since it keeps you from hearing what’s going on outside. Just raise the privacy glass, sink into the comfortable seats with technology that monitors your body temperature, and increase the bench, which has been updated to give you more options and raise the privacy glass.

We’re not going to the U.S.

People in the United States will never be able to live in the new second-generation Lexus LM, which debuted at the Shanghai car show. We have expensive SUVs like the Bentley Bentayga and expensive cars like the Mercedes-Benz S-class, but we need vans like the LM.

Lexus will also sell the new LM in more places. It will be offered in over 60 countries for the first time, including Japan and Europe. Those lucky enough will be able to take advantage of the second-generation van’s many changes, such as a build that is supposedly 50% stiffer and a redesigned suspension meant to make the ride more comfortable and reduce vibrations. To make the back seats more relaxed, a new drive mode lets you change the damping forces and squeezing feelings that happen when you brake or speed up.

Lexus says it prioritizes quiet by cutting down on noise sources like road and wind noise to make the LM’s body as soft as possible. Changes were made to the engines and frames to reduce noise and vibrations and make the soundproofing better. Both engines are hybrids. A 2.4-liter turbo-four gasoline engine drives one, and the other a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine.

The LM is a Lexus and can’t be mistaken for anything else. The company ensured this by making what looks like one of the wackiest versions of its spindle grille ever. Instead of putting a clear line around the design, Lexus makes the spaces between the different parts smaller and lets the body color seep into the grille. The LM is 77 inches tall, 74.4 inches wide, and 201.8 inches long. Even though the specs have increased, the wheelbase has stayed at 118.1 inches.

The Lexus LM is a big van; because of that, it has a big cabin with much more room to move around than any Mercedes or Bentley. You don’t need to use a tape measure for this. The four-seat version is popular with business executives and other wealthy people who like to be driven around, but the LM can also fit six to seven people.

The 2024 Lexus LM offers something Americans won’t be able to get from their mandatory #vanlife, many ambient lighting themes, or using one of the two touchscreen buttons to control the temperature and sunshades. We’ll have to dream about how the luxurious car could be the best Uber ever.
