Ford released the seventh-generation Mustang, driven by an internal combustion engine (ICE), last fall. This gave fans and enthusiasts access to one of the best pony cars Ford has ever made. Until recently, everyone talked about the Dark Horse type, which has 500 horsepower and performs well on the track. RTR Vehicles says the new particular version is “Ready to Rock.” Vaughn Gittin Jr., who won Formula Drift and is a rock star, and his company, RTR Vehicles, revealed that the 2024 Mustang RTR Spec 2 would be coming out. This is the first particular version that a company that makes tuner cars has made. When the new Mustang comes out in the summer of 2023, Ford shops will offer the Spec 1 and 2 options. Before, the business got into the small market for Mustangs. Since the company’s president and founder, Gittin, started the RTR Vehicle name in 2010, he has worked closely with Ford Motor Company and its hot rod division, Ford Performance. The North Carolina-based tuning business has worked with Ford on skunkworks projects, high-profile car builds, and helping its professional Formula Drift team, which has four race-ready Mustangs. We went to the Mustang RTR Spec 2 show, and our first thoughts were fantastic. The styling changes, and wheel/tire package give it a more aggressive look. The long list of suspension upgrades suggests that it will be a good-handling car that you can test at an autocross, on a road course, or in any other fast-paced driving environment. Tires That Turn and Wear Out The base of the seventh-generation Mustang is the same as the older S550 chassis, which makes it easy for aftermarket companies to move goods. The RTR Tactical Performance Suspension parts on the Mustang RTR Spec 2 make it a better vehicle for track and off-track use. The stance is caused by lowering springs, but the group did, even more, to make the car look better and faster. Because the Tactical shocks and struts have adjustable front and back anti-sway bars, car fans can take on canyon roads or tight turns at their favourite road course. During the press conference, Gittin talked about how much fun the car is to drift and how it can tear up the tires. Remember the RTR’s drifting past. He and his friends helped make the electronic drift brake that can be added to the 2017 Mustang. Extra improvements We expect that, like with previous RTR models, there will be a supercharged version since the press release mentioned customizable options beyond the basic Spec 1 and Spec 2 kits. The Gen-4 Coyote engine is better than the Gen-3. The Dark Horse is thought to have 500 horsepower, while the base GT model only has 480 horsepower. If that wasn’t enough, the platform uses the same ECU as the current F-150, which means that aftermarket tuning choices should be coming soon. Companies like SCT and HP Tuners have recently opened ECU to run faster and use less gas. RTR Styles of Fashion Lindsay Ross, the lead designer and creative head of RTR Vehicles, said, “We used the OEM sheet metal from Ford as drapes, and the RTR parts pushed out through the Mustang’s volumes to welcome you into the experience.” The building team mentioned the “Movement Through Space” theme when showing the new looks and functions. It shouldn’t be a surprise that RTR has added accent lights to the grill, but the front fascia has also been improved. The new top grill has lights, and an RTR lower and side grill set goes with it. An RTR is waiting in the rearview mirror because the undertray has been extended, and the splitter has been changed to make it more aerodynamic. The group did more than change the front face. They also added rocker splitters to the car’s sides to give it a unique look. Of course, a new wing and other details were added to the back deck, providing a new look. The new RTR wheels look great. They have 20 spokes and are 9.5 inches in diameter. We’re glad they’re not black. Nitto has worked with RTR Vehicles and the Drift Squad for a long time. The new Aero 5 wheels have Nitto G2 tires that are 275/35/20. The rest of the car is more over-the-top than some tuner cars and has the usual collection of logos and decorations. The Mustang RTR is guaranteed for three years or 36,000 miles. As we’ve already said, the Spec 1 and Spec 2 models will be available in the summer of 2023, when the 2024 Mustangs start showing up at Ford dealerships. The price of the Spec 2 starts at $12,494, more than the standard price of the car. We’ll test out a few different RTR cars when they’re ready to be driven. Later this year, we can’t wait to see the Spec 3 and other new types.
